Comprehensive Master Plan Document for Meeting the Quantitative and Qualitative Water Requirements of Khuzestan Steel Company

In line with the development plans of Khuzestan Steel Company and in continuation of Iran’s steel production growth policies and Khuzestan Steel’s share in this path, the capacity expansion project of Khuzestan Steel—from the nominal capacity of 1.5 million tons to 2.4 million tons, and subsequently to 3.4 million tons—was carried out by SMS DEMAG Company.

Considering the new directive to achieve a production capacity of 2.5 million tons, and given the qualitative changes in the Karun River as well as the critical importance of water quality in the steel production process, ensuring both the quantity and quality of water required by the various units of Khuzestan Steel Company has highlighted the necessity of reviewing the production process and the distribution of water to the units. On the other hand, due to the need for a comprehensive document detailing water consumption by type of use and expected quality for future project planning, the project titled ‘Preparation of Revision No. 10 of the Document for Determining New Water Consumption Quantities’ was defined and assigned to Sazab Ahvaz Consulting Engineers Company through official letter No. 107/6500/S dated 26 December 2020 (06/10/1399 in the Iranian calendar).
